The event, which hosted the first AOTO Golden Screen Awards, saw discussions about how virtual production is becoming less about the LED wall and more about what can be done with it.
This year’s CinemaTech Innovation & Trends Summit (CITS 2026) examined what happens when AI, LED virtual production and real-time technology stop being separate tools and start becoming part of the same creative process.
The third iteration of the event, which was held during Beijing International Radio, TV and Film Expo, brought cinematographers, directors, virtual production specialists and technology companies together to look at where film-making is heading.
The theme, ‘AI + XR Reshaping Content Creation’, reflected the focus on how to make virtual production work better for film-makers.
Discussions explored how AI, LED stages, real-time rendering, robotic camera systems and digital environments are becoming increasingly connected – and how that changes decisions around lighting, camera movement, environments and production design.
